Contribute to the Collective

write, contribute, create, community, collective

Writing is thrilling. You get to reflect, express yourself, gain focus and clarity, and face an empty page. The uncreated, jumble of ideas. Undeveloped, unformed.

It’s almost therapeutic. You look within, you look around. You question everything. At the height of your insanity, things start to fall into place. Out comes the product of your introspection and turmoil – the writing piece. Then you restart the process the next day.

As you write, you commit to surrendering to your curiosities, adding depth to your life. The more you question, the more you understand. You make newfound connections in topics that don’t seemingly relate. You learn, using your own internal compass to dig where your intuition leads you.

There is no reason not to write. Except for your self-imposed rules. I’m right where you are, at the point where I don’t define myself as an expert. It’s a mind game we don’t have to play.

My inner critic things are saying: “who do you think you are?” “What if I get something wrong?” “Is this even deep enough?” Why am I even doing this?” “You don’t know enough about this topic yet.” “There’s enough content out there, what else will you add?” “Is this insightful enough?” “What if I make a mistake?”

Let’s embrace it, and wear our non-expert badge proudly. Why would you share if you’re not an expert? What’s the value of sharing as a non-expert?

Everyone has a different situation and “problem set” that they’re working on. What you share provide an additional case study that they can reference. Your life experiences, observations, or perspective are priceless. Not everyone will have problems that need expert-level knowledge.

If you’ve taking a standardized exam, you know how valuable question banks are. You get to practice all the different problem sets, variations, and applications. Through access and exposure to the question bank, people expand their abilities in solving problems. We all get to contribute to it.

Don’t limit the world’s collective experience bank.

If you’re unsure where to start, begin addressing a few questions:

  1. Choose an experience.

  2. What did you observe?

  3. What did you experience?

  4. What did you learn?

  5. What’s your takeaway?

  6. Why does it matter?

Let’s get to it. Contribution to the collective.
